With the increasing number of obese individuals in the country, health experts are now encouraging the populace to eat healthy and live an active life. For those who are overweight or obese, they are also being encouraged to lose some weight and maintain a healthy weight. This is because obesity and being overweight are associated to the increased risk of many medical conditions that are often life threatening. Examples of these conditions are hypertension, diabetes, heart attack, and stroke. These conditions are not new, but it can be prevented. If you come from a family with these conditions, you can lower your risk of acquiring the disease by eating a healthy diet and exercising.

Numerous misconceptions are being associated with healthy diet and working out. Some believe that healthy diet involves saying no to all your favorite foods and starvation. Other believe that when you work out, you should not eat after or your work out will be useless. These are all misconceptions, and this is the reason why some are apprehensive to lose weight or change their lifestyles by sticking to a healthy diet.

First, healthy diet does not mean starvation, it actually means making wise choices when it comes to food. It also means wise substitution. For example, instead of chocolates for dessert, you can choose to eat fruits instead. In addition to that, working out does not really require you to skip eating. In fact, it encourages you to eat after work. Now, the question is what to eat after a workout.

Just because you can eat after working out does not mean you can eat anything that you want. However, when it comes to post workout meals, there are certain guidelines that should be followed. One major guideline is that when it comes to post workout meals, three essential food categories must be present and these are fluids, carbohydrates, and protein.

It does not necessarily mean that you pump yourself with foods rich in carbohydrates and protein. Instead, you must keep it balanced as much as possible. First, fluids are indispensable because this keeps your muscles hydrated, which allows them to recover faster. Water is the best source of these fluids. Other alternative sources are soups, fruits, and vegetables.

Carbohydrates are needed because this replenishes the used glycogen, which was utilized during the workout for energy. Sugary sweets are loaded with carbohydrates, but most of these sugary sweets do not have any nutritional value, which is important when you are working out. Alternatives that are more preferable are legumes, whole grains, and fruits.

Protein is also needed because this helps muscle recovery and muscle repair. It is normal to for tiny muscles to be injured during exercise, but to help these muscles heal protein is needed. In addition to that, protein rich foods keep you full longer, which helps prevent you from snacking after workouts. Rich sources of protein are garbanzo beans and edamame. These foods also contain carbohydrates.

This is the basic. However, there are health experts that came up with a new method of dieting. One new method is known as the Eat Stop Eat. Brad Pilon created this fresh dieting method. It is innovative and involves a special form of fasting known as intermittent fasting. It is believed that this type of fasting is designed to help you cut down on the calories that you ingest without you starving yourself extensively.

If this new dieting method is effective, it is up to you to decide. However, before you purchase this instructional book on the Eat Stop Eat method, you might want to read an eat stop eat review first.
